Sardinan guitar united with the six-voice traditional Sardinian throat-singing ensemble, Tenore Murales de Orgosolo, mixing, as if such a thing were inevitable and natural, one of the most ancient polyphonic vocal expressions of the Mediterranean [matched  only in Tuva and Mongolia] with extended techniques, modern technology and a quiet experimentalism that broadens, but is not inappropriate to, tradition. This is not some 'world music' confection but a genuine cultural concurrence - and, as such, almost unique. It's a record you can listen to in a darkened room from top to tail and glory in every detail, and then listen again; and again - whenever you need to find a bedrock and restore your faith in the human spirit. In thirteen fluid vignettes which underpin the story of Sardinia in the C20 and its hard transition from agro-pastoralism to waiting on mass tourism. In any other world this CD would win a major award.
