THE REMOTE VIEWERS: Pitfall.
I hope you’re all keeping up. This new instalment drives on into rockier landscapes, the sound is harder -edged and the compositions no less complex, but rounder. Only in these philistine days would no-one notice that something very different was going in this part of the forest. These are very careful, very different compositions, following no obvious lead, but with a Feldmanesque propensity to allow sounds a measure of independence. Also paramount are simplicity and clarity of means. And great variety; much use is made of the available timbres (four winds, contrabass, keyboards and percussion) which appear in shifting combinations with different roles and prominences, according to the composition. Repays frequent listening.
