AMM with SACHIKO M: Testing
The post Rowe duo - Eddie Prevost and John Tilbury - caught in a rare collaboration with the Japanese sine wave minimalist Sachiko M., at London's Museum of Garden History in 2008. AMM, like the Necks, are an ensemble whose aesthetic is so evolved that it seems impossible for them ever to fail to grip. There are sounds here it's not easy to know who is making, or what with; they seem to focus not on parts but on the colour of the air; in no hurry but with immense clarity. Many try but few can operate so reliably at this level of detail and concentration, and Sachiko's particular sensitivity and grasp of time turns out a perfect match. A masterclass. Excellently recorded by Sebastian Lexer with an audience too intent to fidget, sniffle or drop their keys.
