A very musical project,
making highly literate use of violin/octave violin and vibraphone (with added
contrabass) rich in folk elements, non-generic vocabulary, classical technique
and Indonesian, Balkan and Arabic dialects - with shades of minimalism, jazz
harmony and an predilection for additive rhythms. It’s not earth-shattering but
it’s rich, soothing, unusual and deeply rooted: proper music that does what it
does for its own sake and deeply immersed in melody, harmony and rhythm (an
unfashionable but indestructible combination). Quietly assertive and very
listenable. Such modest projects we all depend upon to keep the candle burning,
so worth your support.
