Robert is a pianist, Shirley a cellist, both extremely good at what they do and this is an excellent programme, nicely judged like a good concert - of the right length (2 – 6 minute pieces, concentrated but without anxiety or ennui and LP length) of consistently high quality playing without noodling or striving after effect. From Bach to bepop; Howard Skempton to the Middle East;  with improvisations that you won’t hear as such - it’s all of a coherent piece, with a deep underlying musical logic. Not to change the world but 40 minutes well spent in good company.
