ALTERED STATES: Plays Standards
What it says, although the standards are not played in a very standard way. Best known as Japanese noise improvisers, Altered States here re- and de-construct 16 jazz repertory songs (Misty, Mood Indigo, All the Things you are, Someone to watch over me and so on). I think only Japanese musicians could have conceived or executed such a project without parody (this follows Ground Zero's equally remarkable "standards" CD). Great work.CURRENTLY OUT OF PRINT.
