TRIO LOTZ: Slovak period and contemporary Basset Horn Treasures
As the title suggests this Slovakian CD collects Baroque and (mostly) contemporary pieces written for a trio of basset horns (a now obsolete, dog-leg shaped, lower register reed instrument - like a low clarinet - tuned in unequal meantone temperament). Plenty of microtonal work, and experimental investigation of the instruments, as well as some quasi-baroque constructions and two fine original C18 pieces. A highly unusual, fascinating and convincing collection.
