EASTMAN, JULIUS: Femenine
Maverick American composer with an extraordinary (and short) life history, whose aesthetic was closest to minimalism - though rather more organic, looser and with more of a pop sensibility. He wrote this in 1974. The original – and only other – recording is also available from us; this new version is technically a better recording and the interpretation is very different, less lively but more reverend. Of interest to students and specialists mostly, who want to compare; and, I suppose, some might prefer this cleaner, more academic version.
