SUN RA, EL SATURN and CHICAGO's AFRO-FUTURIST UNDERGROUND 1954-68 BOOK
A collection of contemporary materials concerned with the establishment of El Saturn records by Ra and Alton Abraham, and with the early days of the Arkestra in Chicago in the mid '50s. In a 24cm x 16cm 128 pp flat bound paperback on good paper stock, here are collected reminiscences, a lot of colour reproductions of (mostly unused) cover art - much of it by the very interesting Claude Dangerfield -, some by Ra himself; early Arkestra concert tickets, flyers and visiting cards; advertising, touting-for-work letters and flyers for Saturn Records, as well as sketches, ambitious plans for a multi-story Cosmic Research Centre, gig contracts, tracts and some contemporary photographs. Somebody's labour of love and a useful insight into a side of the rise of black consciousness seldom seen. POSTAGE. Add £2 Europe, £3 outside Europe. Sorry - weight.
